Tools for Searching Relevant Sites

Below are websites of WV state agencies and other relevant websites that contain legal requirements and related materials that impact local early childhood interagency policies, procedures and practice.
  • Use one of the key words above or another word of the team’s choosing to search documents found on these websites.
  • Some PDF documents will let you select and copy text and paste it into another document .
    1. Make sure you have the latest version of the free Adobe Acrobat Reader .
    2. Click and hold the cursor on the Text Select Tool text select on the Acrobat Reader toolbar.
    3. Drag the cursor onto the Text Select Tool text tool from the button's drop down options and release the mouse button.
    4. Highlight the text you want to copy.
    5. Copy the selected text or graphic to the Clipboard:
      • If you copy using your web browser, click Copy .
      • If you copy using Adobe Acrobat Reader, choose Copy from the Edit menu.
    6. Switch to the application where you want to paste the copied text.
    7. Position your cursor where you want to paste the copied text .
    8. Click Paste .
  • Once you have found relevant information, run a copy for reference or “cut and paste” the information into your agreement or procedures.
    1. Highlight the text on the Web page that you wish to copy by holding down the left mouse button and dragging the cursor down the screen. When you have reached the last line you want to copy, release the left mouse button. If you wish to highlight text beyond the immediate screen, continue holding down the left mouse button and drag the cursor onto the grey bar at the bottom of the screen. Additional text will become highlighted. When you have reached the last line you want to copy, release the left mouse button.
    2. Click on Edit above the tool bar at the upper left side of the screen. Click on Copy.
    3. Click on the Start button, and choose Programs --> Accessories --> WordPad
    4. Click on Edit at the upper left side of the screen. Click on Paste. The text copied from the Web page will be pasted into WordPad.

Conduct your word search by:


• Simply clicking on the name of the website you wish to explore. Once you get there, most of these sites allow you to do a word search on that site. This is the fastest way to explore particular sites you wish to search.
• Entering a key word(s) in the space below, clicking the button for the site you want to explore, and then clicking on search. This will take you to a Google search of the site you select. This search will likely take longer, but will yield far more information to explore.
