WVECTCR Objectives:

  • Increase awareness of and support for educational and professional development opportunities throughout the early childhood community in order to ensure maximization of scarce resources and avoid duplication of efforts
  • Coordinate training and technical assistance opportunities for the early childhood community in order to increase availability, access and build capacity
  • Provide leadership and coordination for the WV STARS professional development system, which encourages professional development of early care and education providers, ensures quality of training and trainers, and recognizes providers for their training
  • Coordinate the provision of financial assistance to West Virginia child care centers and family child care homes pursuing or renewing National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)/National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC) accreditation, and provide accreditation technical assistance and mentoring to child care centers

We help early care and education professionals:

  • Learn how to further education and training in early childhood
  • Learn how to bring workshops to their community
  • Become part of the West Virginia early care and education professional development system, WV STARS
  • Learn about the Early Childhood Resource Lending Library
  • Learn about local, state and national training events and conferences
  • Access early childhood transition documents
  • Access local and state early childhood resources and publications
  • Receive financial assistance for training opportunities
  • Receive financial and technical assistance for NAEYC/NAFCC accreditation

We help parents:

  • Learn how to bring workshops to their community
  • Learn about the resources available through the Early Childhood Resource Lending Library
  • Learn about special training opportunities for parents
  • Access early childhood transition documents and other information regarding children with developmental delays
  • Access local and state early childhood resources and publications, including the Parents Blocks newsletter and West Virginia Early Childhood Provider Quarterly magazine
  • Receive financial assistance for training opportunities, if your child has special needs
