Attendees will be introduced to different styles of music that will reach children where they are socially. Participants will learn how to make a musical playlist that compliments curriculum and individual teaching styles. The participants will also be introduced to music designed for transitions and will have the opportunity to act them out as children and teachers. Transitions are an integral part of the day and can be challenging. This is a moving and learning activity. The last part of the session will allow groups of participants to utilize their new skills and act them out in front of the class.
Shawn Brown is originally from Chicago, Illinois, where he developed a strong interest in theater and music. As a child, he developed a wide range of talent. Not only is he a sought after motivational speaker, he is also quite proficient as an actor, comedian, musician, and educator.
Shawn worked as a standup comic at various popular clubs in Hollywood and developed a strong following. Shawn's unique act combined original music rap and impersonations to elicit laughs. In fact it was a comical parody and tribute to the late great John "the Duke" Wayne (rapping) that landed Shawn a recording contract in 1985. Shawn achieved commercial success with his recording of the rapping Duke, which he wrote and produced.
